What is the difference between BLS, ALS, and CCT?

Basic Life Support (BLS) is appropriate for stable patients who require stretcher transport, basic vital-sign monitoring, oxygen when medically necessary, and routine medical supervision. Advanced Life Support (ALS) provides a paramedic level of care for patients who require more advanced assessment and treatment, including continuous ECG monitoring, IV access, medication administration, and advanced cardiac or respiratory interventions. Critical Care Transport (CCT) is designed for higher-acuity or unstable patients who require intensive monitoring and treatment during an interfacility transfer. This level of care may include advanced airway management, ventilator support, management of critical-care medications and infusions, and other specialized interventions.

Our services are coordinated between hospitals, rehab centers, skilled nursing facilities, hospice, and other healthcare facilities rather than responding to emergency calls from streets, homes, or public locations.

What are your hours of operation?

Medtrek operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. Medical needs and transfers do not stop after 5 PM, and neither do we. You can call our dispatch center at any time of day or night to arrange an immediate transfer or schedule a future transport.

Do you accept insurance for medical transport?

Yes, we work with Medicare, Medicaid, and various private commercial insurance providers. However, insurance coverage for non-emergency medical transport depends heavily on medical necessity. Our billing department can verify benefits and assist with prior authorizations when required.

If a patient is able to sit upright safely in a wheelchair and does not require medical monitoring or oxygen, we can advise on the best specialized wheelchair transport options, though our primary service is ambulance-based.

We recommend scheduling non-emergency transports (like dialysis or outpatient appointments) at least 24 to 48 hours in advance to guarantee your preferred pickup time. However, we understand that hospital discharges and interfacility transfers happen rapidly; our dispatch team is highly skilled at accommodating same-day and immediate requests.

If a patient's condition rapidly deteriorates en route, the crew will immediately initiate life-saving interventions, upgrade the level of care, and divert to the nearest appropriate emergency room while communicating with medical control.
